Angel Reese believes she shouldn’t even be in the WNBA Rookie of the Year conversation

As the WNBA regular season nears its end, the race for Rookie of the Year (ROTY) is intensifying. Caitlin Clark has dazzled fans with her playmaking, leading the league in assists, while Angel Reese has broken the single-season rebound record.

The competition is fierce, but Angel Reese, a standout rookie for the Chicago Sky, remains focused on her journey toward the prestigious ROTY title.

Angel Reese reflects on her path to ROTY contention

Ahead of a crucial game against the Minnesota Lynx, Angel Reese sat down for a brief chat with Sneaker Reporter. When asked about her impact on the WNBA and the Rookie of the Year conversation, Reese humbly shared her thoughts.

“I mean, I was picked seventh. I am not supposed to be in the Rookie of the Year conversation,” Reese explained to the Sneaker Reporter.

“But I am because of how hard I work-not just offensively, but also on defense and especially rebounding. Rebounding is something that you have to want to do. It’s not something that’s easy. And I don’t have anything in my life that’s been easy for me. So, I really enjoy doing it.”

The 2024 WNBA season has seen some incredible rookie performances, and the ROTY race has never been more competitive. Both Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have made significant impacts on their teams and the league as a whole. As the final games approach, the basketball world eagerly anticipates who will emerge as the Rookie of the Year.

With only a few games left in the season, the spotlight will remain on Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark as they continue to battle for the coveted ROTY title. Will Reese’s rebounding prowess be enough to secure the award, or will Clark’s playmaking skills propel her to victory? The answer will be revealed soon as the WNBA season reaches its thrilling conclusion.
