Oscar de la Hoya roasts Floyd Mayweather’s ref fiasco and Canelo ducking opponents

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar de la Hoya has gained a reputation amongst his peers that has made him generally an unlikable individual. There are few of the biggest names in the sport who actually like him. His main victims to call out or criticize recently have been Floyd Mayweather and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. When the fight between Canelo and Munguia was going to take place, De la Hoya and Alvarez almost got in an altercation because the two of them hate each other. Oscar doesn’t really care, he knows how to punch and take a punch. He is one of the greatest champions in boxing history, which gives him the courage to call people out right in their face.

In one of his famous ‘Clap Back’ Instagram videos, Oscar first criticized Mayweather for firing his referee during his fight against John Gotti III in Mexico City. He said: “A real sh*t show that left the crowd booing in the arena at the end… He [Floyd Mayweather] didn’t like the referee told him to stop hitting behind the head. Floyd is used to having the refs do what he wants, and he wasn’t getting his way this time. It was so embarrassing. Floyd, you are 50 years old. You are a legend in the sport… But you have to stop embarrassing yourself. I know life is hard, life is expensive, but come on, dude. Put your legacy first. Nobody wants to remember you like this… It’s hard to make money, but even harder to keep it. Floyd, I’m rooting for you. Come on, let’s turn it around.”

But De la Hoya had the most aggressive comment for last, it was a comment against Canelo Alvarez rejecting an offer to headline one of Turki Alalshikh’s events in Saudi Arabia. Oscar de la Hoya has a theory to why Canelo refused the advances. He said: “Turki is making sure real boxing stays alive, he always makes the best fights happen. Which is why Canelo doesn’t like him. Because he is demanding everybody to like fight the very best… Canelo, f**k you.”
