The Brandon Aiyuk drama is over as he agrees to a four-year, $120 million extension with 49ers

The drama has ended, the saga is over. After all the trade talk and not reporting in time, after all the disagreement between the San Francisco 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk, everything has been erased after a new contract extension that will keep the receiver in the Bay for a while.

According to reports Aiyuk has agreed to a four-year, $120 million extension with $76 million in guarantees as the rollercoaster offseason and preseason has ended. The possibility of him being traded has been deleted from the ideas that popped up if a deal did not get done.

The wide receiver was linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a possible exchange scenario, but it was put on hold and now he will be staying in San Francisco. To many, there was no chance that a deal could be reached just a week away from the beginning of the season.

This contract extension comes just one day after the San Francisco 49ers front office was very clear in their stance on the negotiations, and after weeks of saying that the receiver would not be traded and that he was expected to be on the field for the tam in 2024.

“At some point, you’ve got to play,” 49ers general manager John Lynch told reporters on Wednesday. And now, he definitely will after the contract that puts him on the list of the best paid players in the league.

Brandon Aiyuk’s 4-year, $120M contract seats behind only CeeDee Lamb’s 4-year, $136M, Justin Jefferson’s 4-year, $140M and Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 4-years, $120.01M deals that were reached before the start of the 2024 NFL season.
