Barcelona finally receive Dani Olmo registration approval from La Liga

Barcelona have finally registered summer signing Dani Olmo and he will be available to play in their La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday, reports from Spain have confirmed.

The Euro 2024 winner arrived in a €60m deal from RB Leipzig earlier this summer but has missed the Catalan giants’ first two league games of the season, both 2-1 victories over Valencia and Athletic Club.

His absence has been a source of frustration for both the midfielder and manager Hansi Flick who admitted he “can’t control” the registration difficulties Barca have had due to recent financial mismanagement.

However, Olmo is now set to make his debut for the Blaugrana with both Mundo Deportivo and Marca claiming La Liga will ratify his registration in time to feature in the midweek trip to Madrid.

The recent departures of Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City and Clement Lenglet on loan to Atletico Madrid have freed up space on Barca’s wage bill, while Andreas Christensen’s long-term injury has resulted in the club removing the Dane to accommodate other players.

That has worked to Olmo’s benefit, with a Barca debut on Tuesday now looking likely. It will also be music to Flick’s ears given the former Germany boss is already without Frenkie de Jong and Gavi in midfield.

Marc Bernal partnered Pedri in holding roles in the 2-1 win over Athletic on Saturday, with Raphinha playing just behind Robert Lewandowski in the number 10 position.
