Saleh was dismissed from his post as head coach on Tuesday, October 8
The New York Jets are in the market for a brand new head coach after firing Robert Saleh on Tuesday, October 8 and their fans have already made their standards clear by demanding they give the job to Bill Belichick, the six-time Super Bowl winner.
Belichick is currently on the market after departing from the New England Patriots at the end of the 2023 and has the most NFL playoff wins of all-time (31) as well as the third-most regular season wins with 302.
The three-time AP NFL Coach of the Year was also keen to carry on his role as head coach, and de facto general manager, touring several organizations’ front offices although he never landed a job for one reason or the other.
So whilst he currently serves as a pundit and analyst on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, Jets fans are keen to snatch him away from the media studios and back to the MetLife Stadium to make him swap Massachusetts for New Jersey.
One user posted to X.com, formerly Twitter, “Welcome to the New York Jets, Bill Belichick.”
A second added, “It’s time for Big Bill Belichick to return. Woody Johnson should immediately set it up without wasting any moment.”
Thank you for watching
A third wrote, “The #Jets need to get on the phone right now and offer whatever it takes to get Bill Belichick.”
And a fourth concluded, “Bill will get his revenge on NE, and the Jets will get a coach who knows what it takes to win a Super Bowl.”
Jets fire Saleh
For Robert Saleh, the writing was already on the wall after losing 23-17 to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, October 6 and it took just 48 hours for his head to finally roll as the Jets look for a new boss to lead them forwards.
The organization currently sits second in the AFC East, behind the Buffalo Bills and with the same record as the Miami Dolphins, although the latter are dealing with an injured Tua Tagovailoa and out-of-sorts Tyreek Hill.

“This morning, l informed Robert Saleh that he will no longer serve as the Head Coach of the Jets,” franchise owner, Robert Wood Johnson said in a press release. “I thanked him for his hard work these past three-and-a-half years and wished him and his family well moving forward.
“This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations, and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction. Jeff Ulbrich will serve as our Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.”
