Mike Tyson and the change he must make in his training to prove he’s ready to face Jake Paul

Tyson’s return to professional boxing has stirred concern

Joe Rogan has urged Mike Tyson to provide more substantial evidence of his fitness ahead of his highly anticipated bout with Jake Paul on November 15.

At 58, Tyson’s return to professional boxing has stirred concern among fans, despite his recent social media clips showcasing brief training sessions. Many remain unconvinced that he can endure an eight-round fight.

Rogan suggested Tyson should either release longer training footage or participate in a sparring session to prove he’s truly prepared for the match.

Concerns about Tyson’s fitness
Tyson’s last competitive fight was in 2005, and although he returned for an exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, a full training camp has not been part of his routine since his retirement.

His career concluded with a series of losses, including a notable retirement in his fight against Kevin McBride, which raised questions about his physical condition.

“I wish he didn’t do it. I wish it wasn’t a thing,” Rogan said.

“I wish it wasn’t a thing where a 58-year-old guy was going to fight a 27-year-old. That said, I fully support his desire to do it.

“What, is he going to live forever? No, he’s not going to live forever. Maybe he wants one more shot at it. Maybe his body can do one more fight.

“I don’t know. He looks great on the mitts, but I can look good on the mitts, especially if you’re watching 30-second clips.

“What you want to see is him sparring. You want to see him hitting the bag for multiple rounds. Let’s see three rounds hard on the bag. I want to see what you can do.

“I want to see how your feet move. I want to see what it looks like if you’re off balance when you’re throwing combinations.”

Tyson has dealt with health challenges over the years, including an ulcer that caused a delay in the fight. However, both Tyson and Paul have denied any concerns over Tyson’s ability to compete.
