Evander Holyfield is eyeing a return to the ring with his own version of Tyson vs. Paul

Holyfield is also remembered for his second fight against Mike Tyson, where Tyson infamously bit off a piece of his ear

The fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul is setting trends, opening up opportunities for new rivalries between boxing legends and talented influencers in the ring. Evander Holyfield is one of the legends seeking a similar experience and has already reached out to his desired opponent.

That opponent is youtuber and businessman KSI, who has already demonstrated his skills in the ring and would be a great option for a match that could deliver an exciting spectacle alongside Holyfield.

Mams Taylor, KSI’s representative, confirmed that Holyfield’s team has approached Misfits Boxing. Although they have stated multiple times that their intention is not to follow in the footsteps of the Paul brothers by facing retired professional boxers,

Taylor mentioned, “If it were Mike Tyson or Evander Holyfield for all the money in the world, we wouldn’t do that.”

Taylor also clarified that if KSI were to return to the ring, it would be against an opponent with similar characteristics, including experience, age, weight, and height.

The last fights of KSI and Holyfield

The 31-year-old Brit has fought only 7 times, winning 5, drawing once against Logan Paul, and losing just once. That lone defeat was also his most recent fight, which ended in a unanimous decision on October 14, 2023, against Tommy Fury.

Holyfield retired professionally in 2012, just days before turning 50, with an impressive record of 44 wins, 10 losses, and two draws. Of his 44 wins, 29 were by knockout.

Holyfield decided to come out of retirement in 2021 to face Vitor Belfort. It was a misstep, as at 58 years old, it was evident he was no longer in shape, and he was knocked out before the first round ended by the former UFC light heavyweight champion.

It is said that Holyfield was seeking a trilogy fight with Tyson, but the loss to Belfort and his age of 61 seem to have been sufficient reasons to conclude that such a match should not take place.

The risks of the fight

It’s increasingly common for boxing legends to come out of retirement. In Holyfield’s case, experts believe he should not return to fighting, especially against someone as young as KSI, due to his age and various health issues in recent years.

While there is always a risk when facing former professional boxers, it is considered to be lower for KSI compared to Holyfield.
