Shaquille O’Neal changes his mind and makes important revelation about Caitlin Clark

After favoring Angel Reese, Shaq now admits Caitlin Clark is a rising WNBA star

Shaquille O’Neal, once skeptical of Caitlin Clark’s potential in the WNBA, has now become one of her biggest supporters. Initially favoring Angel Reese, an LSU star and Shaq’s alma mater connection, O’Neal has since been won over by Clark’s exceptional play and leadership in the league.

As an LSU alum, Shaq had strong ties to Angel Reese, especially after her impressive performance during March Madness. O’Neal, who even signed Reese to Reebok as the president of the brand’s basketball division, admitted that his loyalty to LSU influenced his support for Reese over Caitlin Clark. “I had to be Team Angel,” Shaq explained, referencing his connection to the university.

However, in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, O’Neal shared that his views on Clark have drastically changed. He acknowledged that despite his earlier stance, Clark’s skills on the court had left a lasting impression on him.

Caitlin Clark wins over Shaq

In his interview, Shaq was quick to praise Clark’s game, saying, “Caitlin does everything right. I never spoke about her [before] because [Angel] is my girl, but I can truthfully say-Caitlin Clark is for real. I’m watching her play, and I’m trying to be upset, but she makes the right pass, makes the right play.”

Shaq noted how Clark remains composed even when faced with physical play, something he admires. “Girls try to beat her up and she doesn’t really complain. She’s a great one, even early on (in her career),” he said.

O’Neal didn’t hold back his admiration for the young star, concluding, “She’s the real deal. Much respect to her and her family and the way she grew up and the way she plays. All little girls should watch all the WNBA players play, but those two [Clark and Reese] are my favorite.”
