Jay Z praises Kendrick Lamar after NFL announcement
Lamar’s career, marked by 17 Grammy Awards and a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album DAMN., has established him as one of the most influential voices in contemporary music.
His recent collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, “Like That,” spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year, while his track “Not Like Us” also held the No. 1 spot for two weeks this summer.
Earlier this year Lamar made headlines for his feud with Drake.
The battle dominated talk in the music world for weeks and delivered Lamar’s latest chart-stopper.
Lamar even made a cheeky reference to the feud in the video that accompanied the announcement saying “You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round two’s,”
Shawn”Jay-Z” Carter, founder of Roc Nation, also highlighted Lamar’s exceptional talent, calling him “a once-in-a-generation artist and performer” and noting that Lamar’s“deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision.”
