Deshaun Watson’s tragic news announcement puts his game status against Cowboys in jeopardy for Week 1

Deshaun Watson has a huge test to start the season when the Cleveland Browns face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in the first game of the NFL regular season. Sadly, there is a chance that he might not play after revealing devastating news.

On Friday morning, the team’s quarterback took to social media to make a public a very private matter, as he told the world that his father had passed away. Deshaun was born to Deann Watson and Don Richardson in Gainesville, Georgia.

This devastating news could put in doubt his status for this Sunday against Dallas, as I is it unclear if he has to attend family matters and that would prevent him from showing up for the season opener.

Deshaun Watson and his family

The late Don Richardson was absent from home, as he left his family when Deshaun and his siblings were very young. This absence was not easy and the fact that his mother Deann had to take her kids on her own, made Deshaun adopt her surname.

However, back in 2006 when Habitat for Humanity gifted Deshaun and his family a home with help from former Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn, that helped him improve in sports and have more opportunities in life.

After all this, Watson led the Clemson Tigers to a National Championship trophy and then he drafted by the Houston Texans. Now, him being a leader in the Browns locker room, it would take a toll on the team if he were not to be able to play on Sunday.
