Kelce confirmed she has been getting involved with the game
After Patrick Mahomes let slip that Taylor Swift had been contributing ideas for her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s football plays, the Kansas City tight end confirmed that his partner has indeed been getting involved with the game. During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show on September 3, Kelce discussed how Swift has taken an interest in football strategy, specifically the X’s and O’s, verifying Mahomes’ earlier comments.
“She had just been so open to learning the game, she didn’t know much about the rules or anything…I think she was just curious about the profession,” Kelce said.
“I know none of the plays have gotten to Coach Reid yet, but if they ever do I’ll make sure everyone knows it was her creation.
“She’s a little biased and just creates plays for me. We’ll see if they can make it to Coach Reid’s office.”
Swift’s interest in football
Mahomes had first shared this tidbit during an interview with NBC’s Chris Simms on August 29, explaining that Swift isn’t just a spectator, but genuinely engaged in learning about the sport. According to Mahomes, it’s been fun to watch Swift’s growing involvement.
“Meeting Taylor, realizing how genuine and cool she is… that’s been special to me, because like you said [she’s] the most famous person in the world,” Mahomes said.
“She’s really interested in football, she asks a lot of great questions. She’s already drawing up plays so we might have to put one in.”
Swift’s connection to the Chiefs became public when she attended her first game on September 24, 2023, when Kansas City played the Chicago Bears. This sparked speculation about her relationship with Kelce, and the pair has since been at the center of media attention.
