The US Open is the Grand Slam competition that has taken place in the city of New York for decades, the winners list of this tournament is amongst the most prestigious in the entire world. It’s a cement court, which changes the entire style of play compared to Rolland Garros’ clay or Wimbledon’s grass. Despite being an American tournament, this past Saturday was the first time in history that four American players make it to the at the US Open’s Round of 16. Before this, there hadn’t been these many compatriots representing their country at one of the biggest Grand Slams in the world.New York City was celebrating each of these great men.
The very last American who won a Grand Slamsingles title was Andy Roddick, who just turned 42 last Friday. That was 21 years ago, back in 2003. Since than, all the Grand Slams have been dominated by European players, winning a total of 77 of the last 78 major titles. But 66 of them are divided by only three players. The Big Three of tennis are Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. Nole himself recently said that he hoped an American could win this US Open after being eliminated by Australian Alexei Popyrin. But things are looking up for Americans, who confirm one fourth of all the remaining tennis stars in the 2024 US Open’s Round of 16.

The players who made it to this stage born in America are No. 12 Taylor Fritz, No. 14 Tommy Paul, No. 20 Frances Tiafoe, and No. 50 Brandon Nakashima. There is no better chance for people in America who will visit New York City to try and get tickets for these games and support these tennis stars. These will be one of the biggest opportunities for the US Open to stay in American soil. And it also opens up a whole new opportunity for other stars who are coming up as the old guard hang their rackets
