Kieran Trippier ‘wants to leave Newcastle’ as Premier League rivals eye shock transfer for England star

KIERAN TRIPPIER wants to leave Newcastle before the transfer window closes, according to reports.

The England international, 33, has a contract at St James’ Park until 2026, but is keen for first-team football.

Tino Livramento started ahead of him in the Toon’s Premier League opener against Southampton on Saturday.

Trippier also relinquished the captain’s armband as Bruno Guimaraes became the on-field skipper.

According to The Athletic, Trippier is keen for a move with Everton among those interested in him.

Newcastle rejected a £12.8million bid from Bayern Munich in January.

Earlier this month, he was linked with a move to West Ham before they closed a deal for Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Everton are understood to have held “initial conversations” with Newcastle over a deal for Trippier – who turns 34 next month.

It is believed it would be a loan transfer.

The ex-Burnley defender worked under Toffees boss Sean Dyche for three years at Turf Moor.

Everton started Ashley Young, 39, at right-back in their 3-0 defeat to Brighton.

The former Aston Villa and Man Utd man was sent off in the 66th minute for preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity when he brought down Kaoru Mitoma.

Trippier joined Newcastle from Atletico Madrid in January 2022, six months after winning the LaLiga title.

He has played 92 games for the club and helped them into the Champions League during his first full season in the North East.

Trippier also started six of England’s seven Euro 2024 games on the left-hand side of Gareth Southgate’s defence.

The only game he missed out on was the final when Luke Shaw replaced him.
